Daniel Zalmanowitz, Q.C., Partner
Danny was admitted to the Alberta bar in 1979 after earning his B.A. (1975) at the University of Alberta and LL.B. (1978) at the University of Toronto. He received his Queen’s Counsel appointment in 2010. Danny focuses his practice primarily on franchising law and related business transactions. The Lexpert Legal Directory, the International Who’s Who of Business Lawyers, and The Best Lawyers in Canada all recognize him as a leading practitioner in Franchise Law.
Danny has lectured frequently for the Legal Education Society of Alberta, the Canadian Franchise Association, the Ontario Bar Association, and the Canadian Bar Association. He is a member and past chair of the Legal Legislative Affairs Committee of the Canadian Franchise Association and a member of the American Bar Association Forum on Franchising. He was a member of the Uniform Law Conference of Canada’s subcommittee for Uniform National Franchise Law and continues to be involved in the development of franchise disclosure laws across Canada. The author of numerous papers, Danny contributes to the Journal of Franchise and Distribution (Federated Press).
Danny serves as legal counsel to Beth Israel Synagogue and Our Parents Home. He is a director and the secretary of the Edmonton Dystonia Support Group and a fundraiser for a number of charitable endeavours, including the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign.
