Catherine A. Farnell
Cathy is a commercial solicitor whose practice emphasizes commercial real estate, business law, and financing. After earning her B.A. with Distinction (1993) and her LL.B. with Distinction (1996 - bronze medalist) at the University of Alberta, she was admitted to the Alberta bar in 1997. Cathy has been recognized in the peer-reviewed list, Woodward White's Best Lawyers in the areas of real estate law (since 2011) and project finance law (since 2014) and was named “the Best Lawyers’ 2013 and 2017 Edmonton Real Estate Law Lawyer of the Year”. She has received an AV Distinguished Peer Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbell and is listed as Repeatedly Recommended as one of Edmonton’s Leading Practitioners in the area of Property Development in The 2017 Canadian Legal L’Expert Directory.
Away from the office, Cathy is a director and member of the executive of the SPS Fuzion Female Hockey Club, a member of the Edmonton chapter of the Commercial Real Estate Women Network, co-Chair of the Fundraising Committee for the Women and Money Initiative in Edmonton, a director of the Elzinga Family Foundation and a member of the Canadian Bar Association North Business Law (of which she is past-chair) and Commercial Property & Leasing subsections.
