John Frame
leads the Condominium Management Group at Witten LLP. His practice focuses on condominium management law providing guidance and assistance to condominium corporations, directors, property managers and owners. He has represented clients on condominium related matters at all levels of Court in the Province of Alberta and has argued leave applications to the Supreme Court of Canada. He has also represented clients at the Federal Court of Canada, the Supreme Court of British Columbia in Bankruptcy, and in front of various tribunals. He also practices in the areas of creditors’ rights, bankruptcy and insolvency, and commercial disputes. Admitted to the Alberta bar in 1992, he completed a B.A. (1990) at the University of Alberta, and a LL.B. (1991) at the University of Windsor.

John has been a panelist speaking at various programs put on by the Legal Education Society of Alberta on the topics of condominium law and creditors rights, the most recent being Condominium Law Update in 2022, presenting on the issue of repair and maintenance of common property.  Additionally, he has presented on condominium topics at conferences held by the Canadian Condominium Institute, is a guest lecturer at the University of Alberta Faculty of Law and has consulted with the Government of Alberta regarding recent amendments to the Condominium Property Act. He also contributes to the Canadian Centre for Professional Legal Education (CPLED) for the Law Society of Alberta and has been an instructor at the Bar Admission Course for the Legal Education Society of Alberta.

John has been active in the local and national lacrosse and rugby communities and was a player on national championship lacrosse teams. He sat on the Board of Directors of the Edmonton Rugby Union and is the past Chair of the Discipline and Appeals Committee for the Alberta Lacrosse Association, the past President of the West Edmonton Blues Lacrosse Club, and the Edmonton Outlaws Lacrosse Club. He also adjudicates matters for the Canadian Lacrosse Association. John previously coached minor lacrosse in West Edmonton and has represented the Canadian Lacrosse Association at national competitions. He also volunteers with the Edmonton Community Legal Centre which provides free legal advice to low to moderate income individuals in the Edmonton area.
