Stephanie Chau
is a partner in Witten LLP's Litigation department. She acts on behalf of financial institutions and other creditors in debt recovery and realization, including both secured (foreclosure/mortgage enforcement) and unsecured (judgment enforcement) debts and fraud litigation.  Stephanie has extensive experience litigating corporate and commercial matters, appearing before all levels of the Alberta Courts and the Supreme Court of Canada. In particular, her practice focuses on shareholder disputes, real estate disputes, commercial negligence claims, and contractual disputes.  She has a considerable employment law practice, representing both employers and employees in all aspects of employment law, including wrongful dismissal claims, human rights complaints and negotiating and preparing employment agreements. Stephanie also represents landowners, tenants, and mortgagees in provincial and municipal land expropriation matters. In addition, Stephanie works collaboratively with Witten LLP's condominium practitioners to effectively represent our clients in all facets of condominium governance and litigation.

After obtaining her B.Ed. with Distinction (2003) and an LL.B. with Distinction (2007 – Gold Medalist) from the University of Alberta, Stephanie completed a clerkship at the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta in Edmonton prior to joining Witten LLP. She was admitted to the Alberta bar in 2008.

Stephanie is an active member of the Canadian Bar Association, and is currently serving her fifth term as the Co-Chair of the Civil Litigation North section. She is also a member of the Creditor and Debtor Rights subsection. Outside of work, Stephanie enjoys dancing, yoga, skiing, and travelling with her husband and two children.
