David J. Hiebert
David is a solicitor whose practice emphasizes corporate and commercial law, business transactions, leasing, and real estate transactions. He completed his B.Sc., M.B.A, and LL.B. from the University of Alberta, and was admitted to the Alberta bar in 1995.
Outside of work, David is very active in the community and with CBA in particular. He is currently the Secretary of the Canadian Bar Association, Alberta Branch, but has also served on its council, been a Section Coordinator, co-chaired the Commercial Property and Leasing section, chaired the Business Law section, and co-chaired the Young Lawyers section. He is also a director of NAIOP Edmonton, which is a commercial real estate development association. He was one of the presenters at the Legal Education Society of Alberta’s program entitled “Commercial Leasing Challenges”, has been an evaluator for the Canadian Centre for Professional Legal Education Program, was a member of the Rotary Club of Edmonton for over 7 years, and chaired the Centre for Family Literacy for over 2 years. For fun, David enjoys playing piano, good food and wine, weight training, running, and learning languages. (He speaks rudimentary Spanish, and has taken two years of French at the Alliance Française d'Edmonton.) David is a member of Opimian (Canada's pre-eminent wine society).
