Retired

Prior to his retirement, Mel was a senior solicitor whose practice included commercial real estate, leasing and development law. Mel was admitted to the Alberta Bar in 1971 after earning his B.A. (1967) and LL.B. (1970) from the University of Alberta. He was appointed Queen’s Counsel by the Province of Alberta in 1988. Mel has been selected by his peers to be included in several editions of The Best Lawyers in Canada in the area of real estate law.

Mel has served as a Member of the Board of Advisors of the Alberta Breast Cancer Foundation, Board of Directors of the Alberta Breast Cancer Foundation, Board of Directors of Congregation Beth Israel, Member of the Executive and Board of Directors of Edmonton Jewish Family Services, Lecturer in Commercial Transactions for the Alberta Bar Admission Course, Member of the Law Society of Alberta Ad Hoc Committee to recommend steps to better secure trust funds.
